In California is there still a program that buys old cars and junks them?

I have a 20 year old gas guzzling car that I want to replace. Rather than sell it to someone else, for them to poillute with it, I would rather junk the car. . I understand that there was a program in California where they would buy an old car for $1,000 and junk it. The car I have would sell for about $1,500 on the open market, but I would rather sell it to some program that would pay me $1,000 and junk the car so that we do not have so many old polluting cars on our roads. Is that program still available? If so, how do I sell my car to them? How do I contact them?

1. No, but if you just want to get rid of it park it and leave the keys in it and the doors unlocked. We have a lot of chop shops in California where illegals will take it for nothing, strip it down and sell it back to you at a profit.
