Classic Auto Classifieds

I have a classic Mustang for sale and a person keeps asking how much the car insurance will be so he can buy.?

They just came back and want me to fill in 'form' with details on the car and they will 'give me a quote'?

  1. dude, have them call GEICO for an estimate, tell them to leave you alone.
  2. What are you actually asking here? Those are statements, not questions..
  3. If it is a classic, the insurance co usually just insures for a dollar amount. The price of the ins is determined by the dollar amt. The last time I checked it, it was very cheap.
  4. Tell him if he is really interested in the car to look up the quote himself. It's not YOUR responsiblity to quote insurance on a car you are selling. You have NO idea his age, past driving record, where the car will be parked and so forth. Tell him to get his own quote.
  5. Some people will want to check on prices of auto insurance before purchasing a vehicle...especially if it's a sports car to be sure they can afford it. When I've bought cars I got quotes by giving them the make, model, year, and vin #...they may also want to know like on trucks if it's extended cab, or like if it's a special edition or something odd. I wouldn't give them any of your personal info...just info. they would want to know about the car itself. The insurance companies will only give you an estimate anyways...it's rarely going to be the exact amount you will actually be paying because other things will factor in like driving history and age. Definatly don't give anything like your SS#, driver's license #, or any account #'s.
  6. not your problem
  7. Just give them the information (make, model, year, etc) so that they can get a quote from their favorite insurance company. Other than that, it's not your responsibility to get their insurance.
  8. http://www.AutoInsuranceEstimate.info Has a form you just fill in and it shows you different rates from different auto insurance companies. Go with which one is the least expensive. That's what I did.
  9. I'm assuming that you are not an insurance agent so just tell them to check with an insurance company as you cannot possibly tell them anything. Do not provide any vital information. Year, make, model and mileage is all any insurance company needs to provide them with a quote. This actually sounds like you might have a scammer on your hands, do not be surprised if next they ask you for your bank information so they can transfer the purchase amount plus a few thousand dollars and ask you to wire the change back to them to pay for shipping. If this does happen, delete the email and move on.
